HBOT Intervention for SNHL: An Overview
Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss is characterised by a rapid onset of auditory impairment, typically exceeding 30 decibels (dB) across three sequential frequencies within 72 hours. While not life-threatening, it has a significant impact on the quality of life of those affected. The annual occurrence of ISSNHL varies from 5 to 27 per 100,000 individuals, with around 66,000 new cases documented in the United States alone (Wang et al., 2023).
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Inflammatory Bowel Disease: An Overview
Inflammatory bowel disease, the main types comprising Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a debilitating chronic illness that affects millions of people worldwide. Though there are various therapies available for its treatment, many patients still struggle to control their symptoms and achieve remission. Recently, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has gained increasing interest as a treatment option for inflammatory bowel disease due to its potential, safety and efficacy.
Can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy help with vascular complications from facial fillers?
Facial fillers have become more popular in recent years due to their non-invasive nature. Nevertheless, one of the most concerning risks associated with their use is necrosis caused by vascular obstruction. This potential complication may occur with several soft tissue fillers, but it is a rare occurrence, happening in only approximately 0.001% of procedures.
Can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) reverse the effects of skin ageing?
A recent prospective clinical trial with a large sample size in a healthy elderly cohort, demonstrated that repeated intermittent hyperbaric oxygen exposures had dramatic ageing-modulating effects on the skin, demonstrated as:
Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Basics for Patients
NUMA uses Monoplace hyperbaric chambers, which are designed to accommodate only one patient at a time. The hyperbaric chambers are compressed with air, and oxygen is given through facial masks.
Our chambers have a clear acrylic window that allows our trained technicians to closely monitor the patient and permits the patient to see outside of the chamber. Patients are observed throughout the session and are able to communicate with the attending chamber operator via an intercom.
